Join us for a celebration of the life of Ruth Charlotte Ellis [1899 – 2000], an African-American lesbian and LGBTQ activist!

The Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, Michigan, a full-service social service agency for homeless LGBTQ youth, is named in honor of Ellis who offered her home as a safe haven for African American gays and lesbians beginning in the 1930s.
